"Gain the spiritual essence..."

& Shrimadji said... "One, who has the attributes of broad outlook, impartiality, straightforwardness and control over the sense-organs, is utmost worthy to gain the spiritual essence..."

"Valuable human life goes in vain..."

& Shrimadji said... "Those who remain totally involved in deception, greed or illusion for the sake of gaining wealth, are very unhappy. 


They cannot avail the wealth fully or partially; they merely undergo the trouble of procuring it. 


They commit many types of sins and the death takes them away all of a sudden. 


They are destined to the low state of existence; the cycle of their worldly life continues to move unabated. 


Their valuable human life goes in vain; they are invariably miserable..."

"Resorting to the commands of enlightened..."

& Shrimadji said... "Even if one endeavours infinitely on his own, he cannot be enlightened by himself, while by resorting to the commands of enlightened one can attain omniscience within minutes..."

"Viewpoint of the enlightened..."

& Shrimadji said... "The worldly soul has learnt about the soul from the worldly viewpoint, not from the viewpoint of the enlightened. 


One, who has learnt from the enlightened viewpoint, gains the right perception..."

"Means for the path of liberation."

& Shrimadji said... "(The belief of oneness with) The thought activity of attachment, aversion and ignorance is the main knot of Karmas. 


That by which its stoppage occurs is the path of liberation. 


The soul is the Truth (i.e. eternal existence) and consciousness itself, free from all accompaniments like impure thought-activity, body etc. 


That by which such pure soul is attained, is the means for the path of liberation." 
(verses 100 and 101 Shri Atmasiddhi Shastra)

"Recognizing the enlightened being..."

& Shrimadji said... "There are three major faults in preventing the people from recognizing the enlightened being; 


one is the ego in the form of 'I know, I understand it' that prevails within. 


The second is the greater attachment for the possessions than that towards the enlightenment. 


The third is turning the face against the enlightened or not to revere them properly because of the fear of popular belief, disgrace or condemnation..."

"Overcome the internal enemies..."

& Shrimadji said..."Forgiving is a sword with which one can overcome the internal enemies; it is an armor to protect the pure character. 


One, who observes equanimity even in unbearable distress with a pure mode, crosses over the worldly sea..."

"For the sake of self-realisation..."

& Shrimadji said... "Jain scriptures are in the form of calm-down. 


They have been composed for calming down by those who have calmed down their defilement. 


There is no other purpose. 


If they are not resorted to for the sake of self-realisation, listening and reading the same would be fruitless. 


we consider this beyond doubt..."

"The relation of body with the soul..."

& Shrimadji said... "Those great men, who have found the relation of body with the soul exactly similar to that of cloth with the body, to that of sheath with the sword; those, who have experienced the vivid and unbound soul, treat life and death as identical..."

"The liberation-seeker should have a firm determination..."

& Shrimadji said... "The liberation-seeker should have a firm determination that for securing beneficence there is nothing more important than the wholesome contact. 


It is very beneficial to desire staying in such contact day and night and to think continually about the adverse outcome of the wrong contact..."

"Generate the spiritual inclination in this life..."

& Shrimadji said... "If the tendency somehow turns towards the soul, this human life would be invaluable. 


Spiritual inclination generally does not arise without human embodiment. 


By knowing and remaining firm about it one should try to generate the spiritual inclination in this life..."

"For the sake of soul..."

& Shrimadji said... "Soul has been endlessly put to use for the sake of body. 


The liberation-seeker should decide for sure that self-realisation is possible only in that body, which is put to use for the sake of soul. 


As such, he should give up all considerations pertaining to the body and make use of it only for the sake of soul..."

"In absence of best Guru..."

& Shrimadji said... "Knowledge of different philosophies, of one's true nature, of cosmos and space, and of the nature of worldly life cannot be gained in absence of best Guru..."

"Liberation here in the world itself..."

& Shrimadji said... "Had there not been ego, there could be liberation here in the world itself..."

"The detached enlightened ones are the best..."

& Shrimadji said... "One needs to correctly make out the commands of Lords and their true significance. There are very few, who can make that out by themselves; the only alternative is to make out from the disentangled and enlightened Gurus; the detached enlightened ones are the best..."

"By the side of the enlightened..."

& Shrimadji said... "After seeing an enlightened being if one gets fascinated on seeing a woman, he has virtually not seen the enlightened being. 


After listening the words of the enlightened, the live body of a woman should seem as good as lifeless. 


Wealth and other property would surely seem as earthly degeneration. 


His soul would not be inclined to stay anywhere except by the side of the enlightened..."

"The soul, which visualizes the whole universe..."

& Shrimadji said... "As the moon shines over the earth, the entire land looks white by virtue of its bright rays, but the moon is never identified with the land; 

similarly the soul, which visualizes the whole universe, is never identified with the universe. 

It always stays in the form of consciousness. 

Its identification with the universe is merely illusory..."

"The soul is indestructible..."

& Shrimadji said... "To contemplate that the body, prosperity, wealth, family, other relations and everything else is temporary and destructible while the soul is indestructible constitutes the first contemplative mode of impermanence..."

"The truth in the midst of worldly darkness..."

& Shrimadji said..."As one can see in the dark with the aid of a lamp, the lamp of philosophy demonstrates the truth in the midst of worldly darkness, and that lamp cannot be put out..."

"The worldly fire can be put out by the water of detachment..."

& Shrimadji said..."As fire that consumes everything is put out by water, the worldly fire can be put out by the water of detachment..."

"Intense knowledge... Intense renouncing..."

& Shrimadji said... "Where there is intense knowledge, there needs to be intense renouncing. Lord Tirthankar has stated that intense knowledge is not possible in absence of intense renouncing..."

"An unimaginable jewel..."

& Shrimadji said..."May the supreme and everlasting religion, propounded by the jinas, which is like an unimaginable jewel, supremely beneficial, wondrous, undoubtedly the ultimate destroyer of all suffering, and like the divine ambrosia, be victorious. May it ever be victorious..."

"I am the indestructible soul..."

& Shrimadji said... "I am not the embodiment; the body, wife, sons etc. do not belong to me. I am the indestructible soul in the form of pure consciousness. Craving and aversion can come to the end by such self-contemplation..."

"Direct commands of the enlightened..."

& Shrimadji said... "Instructions given in the scriptures are indirect and they are meant to turn one receptive. For attaining liberation one has to resort to direct commands of the enlightened..."

"Wake up from the sleep of delusion..."

& Shrimadji said... "As a snake wakes up on hearing the tune of a flute, so does the soul wake up from the sleep of delusion by listening to its true state of purity..."

"The worldly sea can be crossed over..."

& Shrimadji said..."As the sea can be crossed with the help of a sturdy boat and the knowledgeable sailor, the worldly sea can be crossed over with the boat of true religion and expert sailor in the form of a true Guru..."

"Attainment of the power of discrimination or samyakdarshan (right belief)...

& Shrimadji said "The 'soul exists', 


'the Soul is eternal', 


'the Soul is the doer of Karma', 


'the Soul is the enjoyer of karma', 


'the Soul can attain liberation from it' and 


'there are means to attain liberation': 


when these six fundamental truths are realised after deliberation, that should be considered as the attainment of the power of discrimination or samyakdarshan (right belief) according to the Jina. 


This exposition should be studied in depth by spiritual aspirants.


The contemplation of these six fundamental truths arises either through the deep impressions of the past or because of the influence of satsang..."

Adopt the words of saint at heart..."

& Shrimadji said... "Whoever adopts the words of saint at heart, will attain the truth. There is no doubt about it..."

"Instruction of the self-realised..."

& Shrimadji said... "Make a firm resolve to stop your attention from wandering outside and focus within; undoubtedly, this is the instruction of the self-realised..."

"keep these words engraved at your heart..."

& Shrimadji said... "Whom should one rely upon for realizing it except the flawless personalities, who have experienced the truth? Oh man, know thy soul right now, have equanimity for all and keep these words engraved at your heart..."

"Evident commands of Enlightened..."

& Shrimadji said... "Directives given in the scriptures are remote; they are meant for enabling the soul to be deserving. For attaining liberation one has to resort to the evident commands of Enlightened..."

"True purpose of human life..."

& Shrimadji said... "Please consider what is the real gain with increase of wealth or growth of status or expansion of family and relations? 


That merely extends the life cycle and true purpose of human life is lost thereby. 


Alas, you do not think of it even for a moment!"

"Resorting to a true Guru..."

& Shrimadji said... "Scriptures are hard to understand even by a highly intelligent person. They can be easily and correctly understood by resorting to a true Guru..."

"Serving at the feet of the true Guide..."

& Shrimadji said... "Absolute objectives cannot be perceived without the eyes of enlightenment. They can be visualized by serving at the feet of the true Guide..."

"My own experience..."

& Shrimadji said... "An Enlightened Being is one whose attention is focused within, day and night; 


what He says may not be in the scriptures, may not even have been heard before, but can be experienced; 


whose actions are not easy to understand because they do not spring from any intrinsic desires. 


Nothing more remains to be said. 


Without doing this, liberation is not possible. 


consider these words, coming out of my own experience, as truthful..."

"This worldly cycle (of life and death)..."

& Shrimadji said..."Tell me what has one gained by increasing wealth and power? Think what does one achieve by expanding his family and relations. What increases is only this worldly cycle (of life and death), while one wastes his precious human life. Alas!!! Would you not think about it even for a moment?"

"Eradication of Karma without much effort..."

& Shrimadji said... "Worshipping the Lord leads to manifestation of blissful nature; thereby all types of distress and afflictions occurring in mind come to the end; that results in large scale eradication of Karma without much effort; you can thus terminate the worldly life by worshipping the Lord..."

"Have innocent view towards others..."

& Shrimadji said... "One should look towards his own faults to the utmost possible extent and have innocent view towards others. As far as possible he should resort to detachment and calmed down state. That is the foremost thing to remember..."

"Heart of a Saint..."

& Shrimadji said... "Religion consists in what lies at the Heart of a Saint or what He states..."

"Purify the mind..."

& Shrimadji said... "Purify the mind by resorting to wholesome mode and recite the highly Namokkarmantra. There is no other Mantra comparable to that; you can terminate the worldly life by worshipping the lord..."

"Understanding the Self..."

& Shrimadji said... "As a mirror in hand helps in looking at the face, the mirror of contemplation helps in understanding th Self..."

"The core of total morality..."

& Shrimadji said... "The liberation-seekers, who are still involved in worldly activities, should primarily set within themselves the core of total morality; otherwise, their teaching is going to fail..."

"Who am I? Where did I come from? What is my true nature?

& Shrimadji said... "Who am I? Where did I come from? What is my true nature? In what connections am i entangled? Should I retain or give them up?' If these questions are prudently and peacefully addressed to the self, one can realise all the fundamentals of spiritual science..."

"Within the true state of soul..."

& Shrimadji said... "While thinking about the soul from different points of views, it is convincingly noticed that the soul cannot be comprehended without understanding it from those, who abide within the true state of soul..."

"You can terminate the worldly life..."

& Shrimadji said... "Worship of Lord provides the admirable soothing cool shelter and it leads to the desired fruits. Devotion to the Lord is identical to a desire-yielding tree; you can terminate the worldly life by worshipping the Lord..."

"True Godliness, true Guru and true religion

& Shrimadji said... "True Godliness, true Guru and true religion constitute the basic trio that we should know about. So long as there is ignorance about that, it is not possible to get the spiritual beneficence..."

"There is no compassion where there is unhappiness..."

& Shrimadji said... "There is no compassion where there is unhappiness, loss of wellness or dissatisfaction of any living being; there is no religion where there is absence of compassion. Every being gains fearlessness by the religion propounded by the graceful Lords..."

"This soul has been wandering in the worldly life..."

& Shrimadji said... "This soul has been wandering in the worldly life since the infinity on account of the bondage of Karma. It has mostly abided in lower states of existence and has not gained true happiness even for a moment. What can hold it from falling into lower states of existence is called Dharma..."

."A disentangled Guru washes the soul..."

& Shrimadji said..."A disentangled Guru washes the soul-cloth by putting it on the stone of right conduct while applying the soap of omniscient Lords' words and the water of detachment..."

"Give justice to my words..."

& Shrimadji said... "Who can give justice to my words unless one has purity at heart?" "If everyone could correctly evaluate the words of enlightened, the salvation would have been in easy reach."
