"Recognizing the enlightened being..."

& Shrimadji said... "There are three major faults in preventing the people from recognizing the enlightened being; 


one is the ego in the form of 'I know, I understand it' that prevails within. 


The second is the greater attachment for the possessions than that towards the enlightenment. 


The third is turning the face against the enlightened or not to revere them properly because of the fear of popular belief, disgrace or condemnation..."

"Overcome the internal enemies..."

& Shrimadji said..."Forgiving is a sword with which one can overcome the internal enemies; it is an armor to protect the pure character. 


One, who observes equanimity even in unbearable distress with a pure mode, crosses over the worldly sea..."

"For the sake of self-realisation..."

& Shrimadji said... "Jain scriptures are in the form of calm-down. 


They have been composed for calming down by those who have calmed down their defilement. 


There is no other purpose. 


If they are not resorted to for the sake of self-realisation, listening and reading the same would be fruitless.

"The relation of body with the soul..."

& Shrimadji said... "Those great men, who have found the relation of body with the soul exactly similar to that of cloth with the body, to that of sheath with the sword; those, who have experienced the vivid and unbound soul, treat life and death as identical..."

"The liberation-seeker should have a firm determination..."

& Shrimadji said... "The liberation-seeker should have a firm determination that for securing beneficence there is nothing more important than the wholesome contact. 


It is very beneficial to desire staying in such contact day and night and to think continually about the adverse outcome of the wrong contact..."

"Generate the spiritual inclination in this life..."

& Shrimadji said... "If the tendency somehow turns towards the soul, this human life would be invaluable. 


Spiritual inclination generally does not arise without human embodiment. 


By knowing and remaining firm about it one should try to generate the spiritual inclination in this life..."

"For the sake of soul..."

& Shrimadji said... "Soul has been endlessly put to use for the sake of body. 


The liberation-seeker should decide for sure that self-realisation is possible only in that body, which is put to use for the sake of soul. 


As such, he should give up all considerations pertaining to the body and make use of it only for the sake of soul..."

"In absence of best Guru..."

& Shrimadji said... "Knowledge of different philosophies, of one's true nature, of cosmos and space, and of the nature of worldly life cannot be gained in absence of best Guru..."

"Liberation here in the world itself..."

& Shrimadji said... "Had there not been ego, there could be liberation here in the world itself..."

"The detached enlightened ones are the best..."

& Shrimadji said... "One needs to correctly make out the commands of Lords and their true significance. There are very few, who can make that out by themselves; the only alternative is to make out from the disentangled and enlightened Gurus; the detached enlightened ones are the best..."

"By the side of the enlightened..."

& Shrimadji said... "After seeing an enlightened being if one gets fascinated on seeing a woman, he has virtually not seen the enlightened being. 


After listening the words of the enlightened, the live body of a woman should seem as good as lifeless. 


Wealth and other property would surely seem as earthly degeneration. 


His soul would not be inclined to stay anywhere except by the side of the enlightened..."

"The soul, which visualizes the whole universe..."

& Shrimadji said... "As the moon shines over the earth, the entire land looks white by virtue of its bright rays, but the moon is never identified with the land; 

similarly the soul, which visualizes the whole universe, is never identified with the universe. 

It always stays in the form of consciousness. 

Its identification with the universe is merely illusory..."

"The soul is indestructible..."

& Shrimadji said... "To contemplate that the body, prosperity, wealth, family, other relations and everything else is temporary and destructible while the soul is indestructible constitutes the first contemplative mode of impermanence..."

"The truth in the midst of worldly darkness..."

& Shrimadji said..."As one can see in the dark with the aid of a lamp, the lamp of philosophy demonstrates the truth in the midst of worldly darkness, and that lamp cannot be put out..."

"The worldly fire can be put out by the water of detachment..."

& Shrimadji said..."As fire that consumes everything is put out by water, the worldly fire can be put out by the water of detachment..."

"Intense knowledge... Intense renouncing..."

& Shrimadji said... "Where there is intense knowledge, there needs to be intense renouncing. Lord Tirthankar has stated that intense knowledge is not possible in absence of intense renouncing..."

"An unimaginable jewel..."

& Shrimadji said..."May the supreme and everlasting religion, propounded by the jinas, which is like an unimaginable jewel, supremely beneficial, wondrous, undoubtedly the ultimate destroyer of all suffering, and like the divine ambrosia, be victorious. May it ever be victorious..."
